Polymaleic acid (API) is a low molecular weight, water-soluble polymer primarily used as a scale inhibitor and dispersant in industrial water treatment systems. It provides excellent scale inhibition for calcium carbonate and calcium sulfate in high-temperature applications. Due to its high thermal stability and resistance to hydrolysis, it finds wide usage in cooling water treatment, boiler water systems, reverse osmosis, and oilfield water injection systems.
