• Fertigation: Magnesium nitrate is highly soluble, making it ideal for application through irrigation systems (fertigation), ensuring a consistent supply of nutrients to crops.
• Soilless Cultivation: It is widely used in soilless cultivation (hydroponics, etc.) due to its high solubility and ability to prevent dropper blockage.

2. Performance Chemicals

• Precursor for MgO Nanoparticles: Magnesium nitrate been used in a solution with urea as a fuel to synthesize MgO nanoparticles. The solution is heated, and the resulting powder is analyzed using techniques like XRD, SEM, and PL to characterize the nanoparticles. 
• Dehydrating Agent: Magnesium nitrate is used to remove water from nitric acid, allowing for the production of concentrated nitric acid.

3. Construction

• Concrete Admixture: Magnesium nitrate acts as a setting accelerator in concrete, allowing for faster setting times and potentially earlier use of the concrete structure. It also contributes to increased early strength development. This is particularly useful in cold weather conditions where concrete setting can be delayed. 
• Fireproofing: Magnesium nitrate's flame-retardant properties make it suitable for use in fireproofing materials, which are crucial in construction to enhance safety and fire resistance.

4. Fabric Solutions

• Wrinkle-Resistant Fabrics: Magnesium nitrate, when used with a diol and an aluminum salt, can produce fabrics with improved wrinkle recovery and reduced formaldehyde release, according to a study published in Textile Chemists and Colorists. 
• Mordant: In dyeing processes, magnesium nitrate acts as a mordant, meaning it helps dyes bind to the fabric fibers more effectively. This is crucial for achieving vibrant and long-lasting colors, especially on natural fibers like wool and silk.

5. Energy

• Phase Change Material (PCM) for Thermal Energy Storage: Magnesium nitrate hexahydrate (Mg(NO3)2•6H2O) is a common PCM due to its moderate temperature, high latent heat, and relatively low cost. It can store and release thermal energy by undergoing a phase change (melting and freezing).
