• Thickener: Lithium grease uses lithium soaps (e.g., lithium stearate) as a thickener to give it its semi-solid consistency. 
• Applications: It is widely used in automotive and industrial applications for lubricating moving parts, reducing friction, and protecting against rust and corrosion.

3. Performance chemicals

• Reagent in Organic Synthesis: Lithium benzoate serves as a source of lithium ions, which are crucial for many organic reactions. It's used in reactions like nucleophilic substitutions and coupling reactions, which are essential for building complex organic molecules.

4. Polymers & Resins

• Catalyst in Polymerization: Lithium benzoate acts as a catalyst in the polymerization of polypropylene resins, accelerating the process and influencing the final polymer's properties.  It's also used as a catalyst in the synthesis and modification of epoxy resins. 
• Nucleating Agent: Lithium benzoate is used as a nucleating agent in the production of polypropylene. As a nucleating agent, it helps control the formation of crystals during the polymerization process, leading to a more uniform and refined polymer structure. This can improve the clarity of the final polymerized product, especially in film applications.
• Organic Synthesis and Catalysis: Lithium benzoate acts as a catalyst in organic reactions, particularly those involving epoxy resins and polypropylene. It also accelerates hydrolysis and condensation reactions.
